Im currently writing this blog on the beach while the sunset is shining on my face, sipping a cold imperial. Today is my last day in Samara and as I compile all of my vlogs I felt the need to write this while I'm here.
This might be my first beach town I've been to in Costa Rica but I have a feeling it'll be hard to top this place. I could see myself staying way longer than the already 5 days I've spent here. You would think in such a small town, one could get bored but that's not the case here. Days are so simple here and the people are so nice. You can spend the day tanning or drinking at one of the amazing beach bars. The food is absolutely delicious. So let's talk about some things there are to do here and some recommendations.
If you're looking for a place to get some work done there is a great co-working place right on the Main Street. The name is LoCoWorking and it only cost $15 a day to work here. Wifi can be spotty in some hotels/hostels so if you need to get work done its a good idea to get a day pass. Another perk about Samara being a smaller town is everything is only a 5 minute walk to the beach even this co-working space. In this same plaza there's a cute bakery Roots Bakery & Cafe. Try one of the fresh cinnamon rolls and iced coffee while you read a book overlooking the Main Street. If you need to get your laundry done there's even a small eco friendly laundry mat there. I had half of my carry on washed and it only cost me $6 with them folded and smelling fresh.
For places to eat honestly any place on the beach is great. Each day I tried a different one and really enjoyed them all. Theres nothing quite like having a cold beer on the beach anywhere you go. Probably one of my favorite spots for Casado was Restaurante Sheriff Rustic and it had pretty good prices. Another one of my favorite spots was the little fruit stand on the street, Costa Rica gets hot and there's nothing like a $0.75 cold coconut.
Even though Samara is a smaller town there is still plenty to do when the sun goes down. Microbar is the smallest bar in Costa Rica and one of the coolest. Great house music, vibes, and a large selection of craft beers. Up the street from the beach is a bar called Arriba. You'll find a lot of people from the hostels drinking here as there's one literally right next to it. If you're looking for a large wine selection try the vino shop in the market place!
If you're planning a trip to Costa Rica, put this hidden gem on your list!
